Anything left to say?
This past Thursday morning as most of you know, Bradley had his third major surgery, this one to repair a torn ACL in his knee. Counting Jenny (1) and Sam (2), our three kids have had six major surgeries. Dr. Charles Nofsinger, a USF orthopedic surgeon, has done five of the six. I told him that the honorable thing to do is to name his car, the Moorer Mobile,” or maybe his house the Moorer Mansion.” When he came by to give Bradley some final instructions before surgery, he looked at Bradley, Beth and me and said, “Well, I don’t really know what to say anymore. Y’all got any questions?” We all had a good laugh and decided we preferred not see each other under these conditions anymore. The obvious point is that there was little to say that we didn’t already know, at least about the surgical procedure.
You ever felt that way when talking to someone? You think anyone has ever felt that way when talking to you? I believe that most Christians who aren’t living as they should know it and know what to do about it. That isn’t to say that they don’t need help or that we shouldn’t try to encourage them to do what is right. It is to say that sometime there isn’t much left to say that hasn’t already been said. The biblical admonitions to live right are direct and individual in nature (Gen. 4:7; Rom. 13:11-12; Eph. 5:15-17). For every single one of us, each day brings a need to evaluate our lives and an opportunity to change whatever needs to be changed. And sometimes the need to ‘just do it.”
