The Hope of Glory

For now we see through a glass,

darkly; but then face to face:

1 Corinthians 13.12a

At times we mellow with inexplicable hope. Becoming part of something infinitely larger than ourselves. Eternity set in the heart of man (Ecclesiastes 3.11). A fundamental desire that all share. Therefore we plunge into the heart of the mystery. The mystery that was revealed to the apostle Paul through inspiration. Hidden for ages and generations.

26 the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. 27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Colossians 1.26-27

Christ in you. The hope of glory.

The clarity by which we are able to know God through His Son and His Word is unparalleled to any time in human history. For now we view for the first time in proper proportions. It's a perspective that reduces our world and all of our lives to grains in a cup. What is man that He is mindful of him? That You care for him? (Psalm 8.4)

Men have forgotten this truth over time. But now we must not forget it. We must become, forever, for what we have been entrusted. Spreading this good news far and wide. For as Saint-Exupery once wrote, "you are responsible for your rose." The revelation of the Rose of Sharon. Blooming forever more. And we must share His fragrant scent to all we come in contact with. For salvation is at hand.

"To be a man is, precisely, to be responsible."

Searching for the endless small authenticities without which life would not be life. For you see the expectation of seeing Christ by sight in heaven must therefore inform how we live by faith here on earth.

The bride eyes not her garment, but her dear Bridegroom's face;

I will not gaze at glory, but on my King of grace.

Not at the crown He giveth, but on His pierced hand;

The Lamb is all the glory of Immanuel's land.
